Chandigarh Sector 40 was plunged into panic, chaos, and tension following a gas leak incident near Sharda Sarvhitkari Model Senior Secondary School on Wednesday morning. The unsettling event prompted the swift evacuation of approximately 1,600 school children, ensuring their safe return home.

According to statements from school teachers and authorities, the gas pipeline leak was attributed to excavation work involving heavy JCB machinery in close proximity to the school. Fortunately, prompt action was taken to address the situation.

Efforts to repair the gas pipeline are already underway, and reassuringly, no loss of life or property has been reported in connection with the incident.

In an official statement, the school principal explained, “The gas leak occurred around 8 am due to the operation of a JCB machine in the vicinity. Following the leak, students were efficiently evacuated and safely transported home.”

She further emphasized, “Immediate communication was established with parents, and students were safely conveyed to their residences through designated buses, autos, cabs, and, in some cases, picked up by their parents.” The coordinated response aimed to ensure the well-being and security of the students in the wake of the unexpected gas leak.
